- On or about 29-Mar-96 20:44:35 ROB KNAPP typed the following words about
- "PPP.eval timeout? And other questions....". My reply is thus...
-
- Hi ROB,
-
-
- RK> Hi, I think this really belongs over on on the networking board, but I
- RK> never read that....
-
- RK> Here is the problem. I just switched providers, and have been trying to
- RK> connect via PPP(at 9600 baud). I finally got PPP to work, kind off. The
- RK> log says that it negotiated the ip addresses and everything.... and
- RK> then there is suddenly a time out, and the modem hangs up. I have the
- RK> Log from at 40 level, if that would help.....
-
- RK> Also, I have just upgraded my homepage to be Netscape/IBrowse compat.,
- RK> (with option for a textbrowser or Mosaic) and I can't up load the
- RK> F*&%($*&ing .html or .gifs.
-
- RK> I type rz, and sit there and wait for about 3 or 4 minutes until I get
- RK> really frustrated and stop the transfer.
-
- RK> I'm using term 4.6 and xprzmodem.library provided with that. Two weeks
- RK> ago I could upload no problem. I uploaded one file, did some dickering
- RK> with another, and when I went to upload that, that was when there was the
- RK> problem.
-
- I don't know how you were able to upload through ppp.device using a term
- program unless you use telser.device in the term program. Unless your previous
- ISP was just a BBS that allowed you to connect to the internet through them.
- If you are connecting to your ISP via ppp.device you must use telser.device in
- your term program. Also you can't use zmodem if you are connected via
- ppp.device. The protocol used to transfer files over the internet is called
- FTP
-
-
- RK> I've tried at different provider w/ the same results, and with
- RK> BaudBandit.device and 8n1.device as well as plain ole serial.device(at a
- RK> lower baud). So I don't think it's the device or the provider,
- RK> VirusWorkShop doesn't report any viruses hanging out.... Could it be a
- RK> memory conflict w/ one of my commidties???
-
- RK> Some one please help me!!!!!
